When two stern northern women call the Vikings to battle

The battle on the mas-wrestling platform will take place in Norway under the sonorous name Mas-Wrestling Viking Challenge within the Fefor Power Week fr om July 15 to 26.

This week will be full of Highland Games events, Stones of Strength championships and other exciting events. The unique festival brings together athletes, coaches, lecturers, promoters, sponsors and equipment companies from all over the world every year. Meetings will be held for a whole week, wh ere like-minded people will exchange experience and innovations in the field of power sports, master classes, trainings, seminars and various competitions in Viking games will be held. Strong men will carry heavy stones, throw axes, throw logs. The whole world will see carefully preserved ancient types of Viking competitions in a modern interpretation. This year, the Yakut mas-wrestling will organically join the program of the sports festival.

A colleague fr om the USA, Odd Haugen, brought us together with the outstanding organizer of this cool Strongman Festival, Kikki Berley-Jonsen. He was born in this northern country and will personally lead the international referee team of the mas-wrestling tournament. The International Mas-Wrestling Federation will send experienced specialists led by Egor Ermolaev to help to conduct master classes and trainings for everyone. Our common goal is to promote mas-wrestling to the Scandinavian countries.

The idea of ​​such a collaboration in the Arctic country has matured for a long time, and now, finally, the time has come to make dreams come true. In agreement with the Norwegian side, it was decided to hold a pilot tournament in five weight categories: among men - up to 90 kg, up to 125 kg, over 125 kg and among women - up to 75 kg, over 75 kg.

The number of participants is strictly limited. Only eight athletes are allowed to participate in one weight category. At the same time, the Scandinavian countries are given a quota of up to four athletes per category. Thus, the forces will be equalized: twenty Scandinavians and twenty mas-wrestlers from different countries of the world will meet on the mas-wrestling platform in the town of Fefor, wh ere everything is saturated with the spirit of the Vikings.

Norway has opened its borders. Athletes from Finland, Norway, USA and Pakistan have already applied for participation in the Viking Challenge tournament. The birthplace of mas-wrestling delegates a couple of strong guys. A new direction in the distribution of mas-wrestling will be captured on film by the group "Mas-Film Studio". These will be historical shots.

Mas-wrestling will be presented with dignity, in an ethnic setting. To our joy, Alexander Pavlov gave his consent to make a ritual Yakut hitching post. Serge will be established as a symbol of friendship, cultural exchange and successful world sports cooperation. All participants, firmly holding hands, will unite in the Yakut round dance "Osuokhay" around the sacred Serge.

Fefor Power Week gathers the strong not only in body but also in spirit. It is no secret that today the global world is going through hard times. In addition to the pandemic, the world is being shaken by challenges that are not entirely peaceful. How do we, the mas-wrestlers of the world, answer? Our unity, openness and desire to create our best tomorrow. We will show  how we are strong together !
