15.02.2023
On February 15, 2023, the first oriental meeting of the Para and sign language mas-wrestling committee of the International Mas-wrestling Federation was held in Yakutsk.

The meeting, chaired by the First Vice-President of IMWF ─ Innokentiy Grigoriev, was attended by:

Mokhov Arnold – IMWF General secretary

Tomskaya Lena – IMWF Vice-president

Ivanov Nyurgun – Chairman of the committee, director of SBI RS(Y) «Republican center of adaptive physical culture and sport»

Abdulmanov Alexander – Deputy chairman

Anufrieva Aina-Katerina – Executive secretary

Olzoyev Alexander – member of committee

The need for an adaptive mas-wrestling committee is long overdue. In our country and abroad, it is increasingly common for athletes with disabilities to take part in mas-wrestling competitions.

The Committee intends to proceed as planned and sets the following objectives:

1. Develops a strategy for the development of para and sign language mas-wrestling among athletes with disabilities;

2. Develops rules, regulations and other documents for the introduction of para and sign language mas-wrestling with the division into categories of athletes with disabilities (mas-wrestling for people with visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical, mental impairment);

3. Organizes and conducts para and sign language mas-wrestling competitions;

4. Development of rules of sports and functional classification in para and sign language mas-wrestling;

5. Organizes research and makes proposals to the rules of competitions in the adaptive direction, technical support, inventory and equipment;

6. Promotes the establishment of relations with Deaflympics, Paralympic Committees.

7. Maintains a database of para and sign language mas-wrestling athletes.

In the near future, a working group will be established to develop a sports and functional classification on para and sign language mas-wrestling, which will necessarily include specialists in medicine, science, fr om the organizational technical staff and from the coaching staff.

The meeting participants saw good prospects for the work of the committee. According to statistical data, there are 58,843 persons with disabilities with whom it is possible to work.

The first trial competition will be held in late March-early April in Yakutsk as well as adaptive powerlifting and armlifting. At the beginning of July in Amga will be held Spartakiad, wh ere also possible to include adaptive mas-wrestling.

The Chairman of the Committee – Nyurgun Valerievich, suggested limiting the number of classes to a smaller one. Primarily, we are talking about the organization of a competition in mas-wrestling among persons with intellectual disabilities, hearing impairments and, possibly, with physical impairment. The competition provisions will be developed taking into account the classifications.

So far, our competitions have been held through the International Mas-wrestling Federation and the rules it approves. But if we aim to get into the Paralympics program, then there must be a classification of the mas-wrestlers. Under the auspices of the International Paralympic Committee, all competitions should be held in accordance with the Code of Qualifications to create equal conditions for athletes to compete.

The Paralympic movement uses sports and functional classification, which provides for the distribution of athletes to classes, based on the characteristics of a particular type of adaptive sport, the specifics of its competitive activity, but with the medical classification that preceded it. In other words, classes of athletes are formed to participate in competitions for a specific type of adaptive sport based on the indicators of medical classification.

On the competent classification depends the result of the athlete in competitive activity, sports achievements in general and their social assessment. Therefore, sports and functional classification in the Paralympic sports plays a major role, and medical - additional.

The International Mas-wrestling Federation will train professionals who will travel the world and teach other classifiers in different countries and issue appropriate certificates for work under the auspices of the IMWF.
