A historical document is signed in the year of the 100th anniversary of sports of the Republic

Recall that the President of the Olympic Committee of Russia Stanislav Pozdnyakov and the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin visited Yakutia at the «Manchaara Games» in 2021. During a meeting with the Head of the Republic Aysen Nikolaev he expressed confidence that the Yakut type of martial-fighting - mas-wrestling has a very real chance to enter the program of the Olympic Games and assured that assistance will be provided in the development of a road map for the promotion of the sport: «Over fifty national federations are united in the International Mas-wrestling Federation and regular championships of continents and the world are held. So we think there’s nothing wrong with the mas-wrestling prospects. In the near future we will discuss the road map with the International Mas-wrestling Federation - how we can assist in the promotion of mas-wrestling in the Olympic program».

So, on February 28, 2023, the Decree of the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) A. Tarasenko was signed under №147-p «On the approval of the plan of measures to include mas-wrestling in the program of the Olympic Games for the period 2023-2036.

This historical document was issued pursuant to the Instruction of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)   ПР-735-F1 of 21 March 2022, the Law of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of 19 December 2018 2077-3 45-MS «On the strategy of socio-economic development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) until 2032 with a target vision until 2050» and is consistent with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of 26 February 2021. 152-r «Strategy of development of physical culture and sports in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for the period up to 2030».

The Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is charged with organizing the implementation of the approved plan of measures for the inclusion of mas-wrestling in the program of the Olympic Games for the period 2023-2036. The Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) personally takes control of the implementation.

It is significant and symbolic that the signing of an important and historical document took place in the year of the 100th anniversary of the physical culture movement in our republic and in Russia.
