A referee staff of the III World Mas-wrestling Championship among veterans in Moscow has appointed
The hero city of Moscow welcomes veterans to the III World Mas-wrestling Championship among athletes over 40 y.o. on the previously scheduled dates of April 25-27, 2025. During these days, on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the capital of Russia is especially beautiful. Moscow, as always, is preparing for the celebrations on a grand scale. Everywhere, preparations are underway for the most magnificent celebration of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and a warm festive atmosphere fills the air. Participants expressed their desire with great joy to see their beloved city once again during this wonderful spring season.
The main contingent of participants, of course, comes fr om Russia, wh ere this sport originated. The veterans of the sport here are a caste of the chosen. They enjoy immense authority in society. Organizing a world championship for veterans is a gesture of gratitude for their contributions to the country. After all, it was they who began to promote the national sport, which was previously little known to anyone, from scratch. Without any visible prospects for themselves, they popularized it first in Yakutia, then in the regions of Russia and around the world. Without exaggeration our veterans are the foundation of world mas-wrestling.
Mas-wrestling is maturing year by year, and time dictates its own rules. It is time to seriously think about how to extend the sports longevity of all mas-wrestlers. Time flies quickly. Many renowned mas-wrestlers are exiting their full competitive age. There is no need to look far for examples. This year, at the Russian Mas-wrestling Championship in Lyubertsy, the most titled mas-wrestler in the country Viktor Kolibabchuk celebrated his fortieth birthday. It is necessary to prepare global platforms for their successful career growth in the future.
Leading coaches from the regions do not want to lag behind their students and wish to test their strength in their age category, to be a worthy example for the younger generation.
This is why the International Mas-wrestling Federation has decided to pay attention to organizing competitions in this age category. Starting from 2023, we began to hold meetings of veteran mas-wrestlers at the most prestigious sporting event on a world-class platform. And this time, we will warmly welcome our deserving athletes in Moscow.
Let us remind you that according to the approved additions to the current International rules of mas-wrestling, the weight categories in the veteran age have increased:
- veteran men: 65 kg, 75 kg, 85 kg, 95 kg, 95+ kg;
