The III World Mas-Wrestling Championship among veterans in Moscow made history
The mas-wrestling competitions among veterans took place this year in an unusual location – at the Evolve Gym Martial Arts Academy in the center of Moscow. The boxing ring served as a mas-wrestling platform. Once the ropes were removed, it transformed excellently into a great venue for mas-wrestlers' bouts. Nearby, training sessions for various martial arts were taking place, and from time to time, sharp strikes and the shouts of athletes could be heard, adding the necessary atmosphere.
More than forty athletes from 11 regions of Russia have registered to participate in our competitions. The international format was ensured by athletes from Georgia.
Let us remind you that participants from different countries prepared for these competitions in another neighboring country. Unfortunately, due to the unstable political situation in the planned venues, we faced the dilemma of whether to hold the world championship among veterans this year or not. There were understandable doubts, as we incurred not only moral costs but also material ones. The president of the International Mas-wrestling Federation Alexander Akimov made the decision to proceed. And it turned out to be the only right one.
Alexander Konstantinovich warmly welcomed all participants and presented awards from the International Mas-wrestling Federation. For their contributions to the development and promotion of mas-wrestling at the international level for promoting a healthy lifestyle, and for their personal contributions to the promotion of mas-wrestling, Anatoly Baishev - European and World Champion in mas-wrestling, President of the Mas-wrestling Federation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Vladimir Tsukanov - the Chief Referee of the Championship, were awarded the medal "For Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Mas-wrestling".
Honorary diplomas "For Contribution to the Development of Mas-wrestling" were awarded to Alexey Atlaskin from the Chuvash Republic, Ilona Shapka from the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, and yakuts Anatoly Gladkov, Fedor Fedorov, Tatyana Dyachkovskaya, Dmitry Serguchev, Anna Okhlopkova, Nyrgustaan Anufrieva, and Tuyara Orlova.
Practically all participants of the competition were from Russia. The World Championship took place and showed that Russians are the strongest in the world. No one disputes this status quo. There are no athletes over 40 who can resist Russian mas-wrestlers! This can be considered a challenge for participants of the next World Championship in the Masters category!
