The opening ceremony of the 3rd Mas-wrestling World Championship took place in Yakutsk

Opening the championship, Chairman of the Government of Yakutia Mr. Vladimir Solodov noted that today the best representatives from 39 foreign countries of the world gathered at the sports festival. “This once again proves that the folk games and fun of the Yakutsk after centuries turned into an exciting sport that they became interested in all over the world. The winners of today's championship will be inscribed in world history. And we are proud that our wrestling khapsagay, mas-wrestling and Yakut jumps go to a new level of development,” - said Mr. Solodov.

Deputy Minister of Sport of Russia Marina Tomilova expressed greetings on behalf of the Minister of Sport Pavel Kolobkov. She noted that mas-wrestling in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has a long history and great popularity, which was one of the reasons to entrust the regional capital again to hold a world tournament in this spectacular sport. “Today, Yakutsk is hosting 200 participants from 39 countries. This proves that mas-wrestling is actively developing, winning the love of fans around the world. "The President of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation Alexander Akimov congratulated on the opening of the third world championship. In particular, he noted that our northern people, who live in difficult climatic conditions, are doing their utmost contribution to the development of world sport.

Vladimir Solodov awarded the Honorary titles of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) "For strengthening of peace and friendship of people" by the Vice-President of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation, President of Mas-Wrestling Federation of Brazil, Vilmar Oliveira, and President of Mas-Wrestling Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, Iskender Alymbekov.

In a solemn ceremony, the honorary title “Honored coach of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)” for achievements in the field of physical education and sports, contribution to the socio-economic development of the republic and many years of conscientious work were awarded to the coach of mass-wrestling school of the

Youth and Youth School of the Megino-Kangalassky district Nikolay Boyarov and the coach of the school Ust-Aldan ulus Ivan Gotovtsev.

The honorary title “Honored Worker of Physical Education and Sport of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)” was assigned to the teacher of physical culture from the Suntarsky ulus Anatoly Petrov.

Marina Tomilova, on behalf of the Ministry of Sport of Russia, presented the titles of the “Sporting Judge of the All-Russian Category” in mas-wrestling to Ivan Sivtsev, Dmitry Sharin, Petr Battakhov and Afanasy Savvinov.

Athletes from 39 countries of the world in 12 weight categories take part in the third world championship. The championship is attended by leading athletes, leaders of national teams from all continents of the planet. In the days of the championship, the capital of our republic will turn into a platform for international cooperation and friendship, a wide propaganda of a healthy lifestyle. In addition to competitions within the framework of World Championships, the International Scientific and Practical Conference, the Congress of the International Mas-Wrestling Federation, the match meeting of the teams of Europe, Asia, the World and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the MASTERS category are held.
